Let’s be honest here, as great and useful as most gadgets may be, one of the biggest appeal they have in the community or online is the show off factor.
So why don’t we take a look at some of the most expensive gadgets out there and just see how much you can show off with tech.
In order to refrain from repeating myself, I will go out and select a few expensive gadgets from different categories just so we can notice how far people are willing to stress their wallets just for all sorts of toys.
#10 Crystal Dock
The opening cue is a gadget accessory that costs just over 500 USD. That’s a sum we are all ready to cough up for a new and cool gadget. The only trouble is, that for these money, you only get an iPhone 4 Docking station.
It is made out of crystal, handmade and then painted with platinum, also by hand. That’s how the Crystal Dock justifies its price.
#9 Swarovsky DJ Headphones
Moving forward in the field of functionality, let’s take a breath at number 9 for a pair of headphones. Surely not boring ones since they cost around 2400 dollars.
Made by renown crystal and gem retailer Swarovski, these DJ headphones are even shinier than the disco ball of the club in which you’ll be spinning.
#8 Custom Blackberry Bold 9700
Moving just slightly up the ranks we find an understated Blackberry Bold 9700. After visiting a British customizing company, the price range gets a considerable bump.
For the entry level version, the one that’s made with gold, platinum and such “lower class” materials you’ll have to pay $1.500. If you’re willing to opt for rubies and diamonds the green count goes all the way up to 2600 USD. At least this time it’s a proper gadget.
#7 Platinum Macbook Air
A platinum Macbook Air. How many times can I say that before it actually becomes redundant? Ignoring the fact that the whole point of the Macbook Air was mobility, it looks absolutely stunning.
With options on this very cool laptop being a gold, platinum or rose gold, do you really care about carrying it? You can probably pay somebody to carry it around for you. After all, the price sits at a venerable 8.800 dollars.
#6 Vertu Constellation Quest
The Vertu brand is something I don’t really care for and the Vertu Constellation Quest is even less understandable to me. That’s actually a good thing because Vertu doesn’t make the smartest, fastest, most capable phone.
They do claim to make the most luxurious one and they even go as far as to offer a concierge service upon purchase. Frankly, even with all the expensive materials used in this gadget, the handmade quality and that extra service it barely makes up for the $8.000 to $27.500 price range.
#5 Diamond covered Nokia N95
Now here’s something a lot more familiar and down to earth. A very capable (for its time) phone, the Nokia N95 gets teamed with some considerable customization.
As you can see, the customization involves swapping ordinary materials with 18 carat white gold and 675 diamonds. Added bonus: only 25 were ever made and the only reason they’re still in this top is because should you want a newer phone, the maker will kindly move the diamonds to it. Pricing for all this fun 44.000 dollars – roughly what it would cost to buy and run a 2012 Ford Mustang GT for about a year.
#4 Plantronics Bluetooth headset
With all the phones we’ve been seeing here, it’s only natural to assume expensive gadget enthusiasts would be wanting for a Bluetooth headset right?
Well this is Plantronics’ idea of what it should be; a limited edition gold and diamond encrusted headset that looks as if it’s an Egyptian queen’s long lost earring. Pricing is key for this top so let’s say that at 50.000 dollars it easily earns a place here but still misses the podium of expensive gadgets.
#3 Gold Nintendo Wii Console
So you own half the petrol reserves in the world? That’s great, but what are your kids going to play on? Surely a Nintendo Wii is far too common.
Hook them up with this Gold, and I mean solid gold construction, Nintendo Wii Console. I’m sure the toddlers will be pleased with the new gadget and you can easily spare the $500.000 asking price right?
#2 PrestigeHD Supreme Rose Edition
The name sounds a bit weird but it is actually a very simple product, it would probably go well with the above mentioned Gold Nintedo Wii because this is a gold 55 inch High Definition TV.
Unlike the Wii however this uses 19 kgs of 22 carat Rose Gold and 48 round cut diamonds to stand up to attention. I hope they include delivery charges because it costs a staggering 1.6 million dollars.
#1 Diamond Rose iPhone 4
Those of you who thought the iPhone 4 is overpriced, have a look at the sort of costs something like this has. This thing costs a shocking 8 million dollars mostly because of the materials and partly because of the craftsmanship.
Rose Gold, more than 500 flawless diamonds (53 of which are used for the Apple logo alone) and a platinum construction with a massive diamond in the middle make it worth while.
Could you imagine losing something like this? Or having it stolen? Or heck, stealing it?
