World Car of the Year 2010 finalists
Cars | Raul | February 5, 2010 at 12:48 pmFollowing a tradition of more than half a decade, it is around this time in February when a jury of 59 international automotive journalists coming from more than 20 countries gathers round for the final round of voting to determine winners in four different categories, namely World Car of the Year, World Green Car, World Performance Car and World Design of the Year.
The distinguished journalists will have to choose three of the ten car finalists for 2010 World Car of the Year, ranging from Audi Q5 to Toyota Prius. The full list of the selected models is as follows:
- Audi Q5
- BMW X1
- Chevrolet Cruze
- Kia Soul
- Mazda3
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- Opel/Vauxhall Insignia / Buick Regal
- Porsche Panamera
- Toyota Prius
- Volkswagen Polo
The same process will be applied to the 2010 World Performance Car, which will be chosen from one of these ten finalists:
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage
- Audi R8 V10
- Audi TT RS Coupe / Roadster
- BMW Z4
- Ferrari California
- Jaguar XFR
- Lotus Evora
- Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG
- Nissan 370Z
- Porsche 911 GT3
- Porsche Boxster / Cayman
Finalists in the World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car will be managed differently, as renowned experts from various countries, each representing a continent, will assist the jury in choosing three finalists which are to be announced, along with the others in the previous categories, on March 2, 2010 at the Geneva International Motor Show.
The final step of the award inaugurated in 2003 and officially launched a year later will take place at New York International Auto Show on April 1, 2010, when winners in all four categories will be announced.
