As of a few moments ago, Youtube stopped working properly. Getting the “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable” error randomly, the website is hardly accessible. Videos are still watchable, but the thousands of users accessing it every moment have to put up with this minor inconvenience.
Subscriptions are also not being displayed, and people already commented on social networks like Facebook, without any response.
It’s not unusual for a site to have downtime, but it’s rarely the case for major sites like Youtube. Between a hacker attack and maintenance, we can only assume what actually happened. Or, the best scenario, they are updating the site and giving us some more delightful features.
No official news as to what happened, but we will hopefully hear an update soon. In the meantime, we will keep you informed as soon as we know anything.
Update: At least they are aware of the problem and they are working on it, as you can see in their Twitter update.
Yet another update, they just posted on their twitter that they fixed the problems. However, I (and probably other users) am still having issues with subscriptions.
