Verizon gets Motorola’s second-generation Xoom tablets which will be launched on 8th December, according to a leaked document. It seems that the same document contains minimum advertised pricing for the Xoom 2. The 8.2 inch model which comes with 16 GB of storage will cost 430$ with a contract while the 10.1 model with 64 GB of storage will have a starting price of 530$.
The prices were a surprise because the U.S. was expected to get Xoom 2 at a lower price. However, it is not sure if the price found in the document is a place-holder or not. Furthermore, the product is mentioned in the document as “Motorola Tablet” rather than “Motorola Zoom”.
The Xoom 2 comes with some interesting features such as: a dual core 1.2 GHz OMAP CPU and dual cameras with a five megapixel primary sensor, a battery for that can last even ten hours for the larger tablet and six hours for the smaller one. It is also expected to be thinner and have a better display. However, it is not sure yet if the Xoom 2 will launch with Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich.
The leaked document appeared on Droid-Life. The Xoom 2 might be launched with a different name – Droid Xyboard. It would be interesting to see how will Motorola fans receive the slate so close to the holidays.
