As of 16.20 EST today, it appears Facebook is down. Reports are piling up about either extreme slowness during loading or the site not loading at all. Here at Finestdaily we have been unable to access Facebook from several Internet connections and proxy routing has had no effect either. This is after a period of about 30 minutes of extreme sluggishness and lack of response from several buttons.
Twitter is already abuzz, with mostly international users noting inability to connect to the social networking website. As always, rumors of conspiracy are creeping up the grapevine at nothing short of light speed.
Today’s outage is possibly related to changes made by Facebook today, including some very deep changes to the Pages infrastructure, such as the “Switch Accounts” Option. The changes mostly consisted of a revamped Profile page, alongside new design for Photos and Pages. We don’t have any official information at this current time, but we’ll keep you updated as the situation changes. Please let us know if Facebook is working in your part of the world, and also tell us what you think of the new design.
Update: As of 16.50 EST, the site seems to be back up, we don’t know however if this is permanent or if more outages are about to happen
