PlayStation 3 owners rejoice. The PS3 console’s multimedia action is about to heat up considerably.
In a recent announcement, Sony Entertainment announced a collaboration with vudu.com. The VUDU app will be available for free within the Playstation 3 store starting the 23rd of November.
The VUDU app will basically turn your Playstation 3 into one of the best multimedia consoles by offering the site’s services.
The VUDU application will give you access to a variety of about 4.000 HD movies that are special. The movies themselves aren’t necessarily special but the way VUDU delivers them to your PS3 is.
VUDU offers 1080p video and streaming picture quality at a level that’s pretty much extraordinary. Short of Blu-Ray discs nothing matches the quality VUDU offers and remember this is a streaming service.
All of this is available on your PS3 through VUDU’s very own HDX system.
It’s all nice and great having high definition movies on your PS3 but VUDU has been available for Xbox for about a year now. The only difference is PS3 gives you access for free whereas Xbox Live only gave you VUDU if you were a gold member.
Let’s ignore the Xbox situation for a while to find there’s something special about VUDU and their availability on PS3.
Playstation 3 gives you access to Hulu and Netflix for HD movie streaming for quite some time now. The only difference is that VUDU has new movies ready when they appear on DVD and Hulu or Netflix take about a couple of months or more for a release update.
