Those considering the Wikileaks story as done for can only be describe as having lost contact, with other people, over the Internet.
Pending the latest hacktivists’ effort for the renown whistle-blowing site, the authorities got back from their holidays and they started to pursue various ideas in stopping the diplomatic cable publishing site.
The latest attempt against Wikileaks implies going to Twitter. It turns out that now the US Government is interested in collecting Wikileaks related data from the micro-blogging site.
The Americans, lead by the US District Court in Virginia, want Twitter to hand over information such as user names, addresses, connection records, telephone numbers and even payment details. All of this information is supposed to be from the people who actively support Wikileaks.
The heads of the information hunt in the most recent of Wikileaks developments are, obviously, Julian Assange, the founder, and Icelandic MP Birgitta Jonsdottir. Ms. Birgitta Jonsdottir is an active supporter of Wikileaks and the biggest promoter of the Icelandic Modern Media Initiative (IMMI) law.
The IMMI law made Iceland a world leading place in terms of investigative journalism and free speech. The US Government asked for tweets of the two, and others, since 2009.

So why does the US Government want Wikileaks supporting tweets? Frankly, there’s no real reason despite the prosecutors claiming that it is vital information. At the end of the day, Twitter didn’t release the Wikileaks information.
Julian Assange’s lawyer claims that the request for Wikileaks related tweets is a sign of the US Government stopping the lawyer game and switching to the politics one.
Ms Birgitta Jonsdottir also had a statement regarding the Wikileaks situation. She claims that the US Government did no more than give her a warning. Implying that the Wikileaks stopping efforts are similar to someone breathing in a phone.
Julian Assange said that the latest “issue” seen by the US Government is bordering on harassment. And so the Wikileaks war continues.
