It’s definitely not the first time we’ve heard about this but recent announcements of launching Google TV and of Sony preparing to launch the first ever set that has such a capability their competition is starting to take notice.
Sony
So far Google’s way of turning your PC into a Internet capable device seems to be the best way to go for it and possibly the better way to confirm this is by taking notice of the TV manufacturing leaders and their decision to jump at this technology, their striving to be the first to get it on the market.
There is more however, for those who aren’t at least a little bit geeky, this is just another gadget that isn’t necessarily worth the trouble but what Google TV can offer is going one step closer towards less effort in getting information. Less effort means everything can access the Internet and therefore information a lot faster and, best of all, with more control.
Lost of people still view this still relatively new technology as nothing more than a help for couch potatoes but then again television in itself isn’t an advertisement for working out. Moving away from the bad waves of energy against Google TV it seems that beside television sets manufacturers there’s other big names in the IT&C business takes notice.
Most importantly, seeing how the Google powered TV is affecting the market Apple is reconsidering their TV Box and they plan on raising the stakes on this whole business of a television operating system and compete with the Mountain View based company. Their first decision now that they don’t have a serious competitor on the way is to cut back pricing of their service but they come with a bit of a disadvantage as, for now, they only allow rental of the content and not ownership.
As the fight heats up between the two with Google being in an advantageous position there are still some important aspects to work out before making the system viable. The first thing that even Google themselves pointed to is the difficulties in getting the networks and other media outlets involved. It’s still a bit of a gray area over there but customers prefer to maintain an interest in apps and whatever else a Google TV can offer as opposed to what it can’t.
Seizing the opportunity of early adoption and the going along with the wave of sales that are predicted for any Google TV ready television set, hardware companies are already coming up with stuff to aid you turn what’s in your living room into more of a computer than it is a box that just randomly runs movies and commercials in a way you can’t be involved in.
At just a step behind Sony who are already on the verge of going public with their Google TV ready unit, come the rest of the big players of the market, Panasonic, LG, Toshiba, Sharp and Logitech.

I know that seeing Logitech in this list doesn’t make much sense but there’s something better about them then all the names you’ve seen before. Unlike the makers of TV Sets, Logitech is going one step further and providing accessories that will help you make the best use of your Google TV. The best of all these accessories has to be the keyboard portrayed here.
The outcome of this entire thing will definitely be something worth watching. Who knows, maybe even worth watching on your own Google TV set.
