Upon looking into the results from a recent survey done by the Pew Research Center found that U.S. Minorities are avid users of Twitter.
The Pew Research Center is an organization that’s based in Washington and operates on a think tank system.
Their research found that within their panel of adult Internet users 13% of Latino and 18% of African-American descent are serious Twitter users. By contrast, only about 8% of white adults use the micro-blogging platform.
According to the researchers much of this is related to the fact that the minority populations has a lower average age which makes for more Internet activity. It seems that youth comes with more Internet activity and more mobile technology, who would’ve guessed?
On a serious note though, the research did focus on minority issues as well as age differences but one thing stood out. Twitter usage in the U.S. is related to mobile phone activities.
Most of those who tend to be active on Twitter tend to do so because they use their mobile phones for more than simple voice calls. Since Twitter is so well groomed for mobile usage this is no surprise.
Another important of the Pew Research Center’s study was related to frequency of use. It seems that 25% of the people interviewed use Twitter multiple times a day.
A 2% of the panel replied that they are extremely active on Twitter. This must mean that those 2 percent are the sort that jam your twitter settings full of rubbish.
The Pew study used a panel of 2.257 people to come to these results and it is part of an initiative to get a better hold on technology usage in the United States.
Twitter is a micro-blogging platform launched in July 2006 which claims to have tens of millions of users today. Twitter has become a great platform for light users as well as analysts and marketers alike.
