Sennheiser and Adidas receive CES Innovations Award
News | Raul | January 11, 2010 at 1:16 pmIn what appears to be an unusual partnership, headphone designer Sennheiser and their German co-nationals Adidas teamed up to create a very sport-oriented model of headphones which promise to bring out the best qualities from both companies.
Sennheiser did the first part in creating the 680 Series in-ear headphones by implementing the best possible sound quality current technology can offer, nothing less than one would expect from the renowned German headphone maker. The 680 Series launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2010 presents customers with three options in the CX 680, MX 680 and PMX 680, prices ranging from around $60 to $90.
Adidas had the responsibility of ensuring the headphones would not only have an ergonomic design, but also guarantee customers of the durability necessary to an active person. They did just that through EarFin, a sweat-resistant rubber-made addition to the headphones which can be attached through a Kevlar-reinforced cable much stronger than the usual ones.
The other two models, the MX 680 and PMX 680 respectively, offer various methods of attaching; the former simply clips over the ears in order to stay in position at all times, while the latter is wrapped around the back of one’s head and, thanks to its reflective strip, completes the additional task of making drivers more cautious avoiding undesirable accidents.
