Samsung seems to have become the world leading smartphone manufacturer. Or at least this is what we get to know from the results of the third quarter of this year. The company has posted these results saying that its consolidated profits decreased in comparison to the second quarter, though.
KRW 41.27 trillion in revenue ($37.3 billion) and KRW 3.44 trillion of profit ($3.11 billion) were brought in by the conglomerates division. Even if sales have been 3% YoY and 5% sequentially, Samsung’s net profit is 23% lower than in the previous quarter.
Still, if we are to take into account the mobile phone division, then Samsung is surely a winner. And that’s because the sales in this department rose “low 20%” on QoQ and “high 20%” YoY. With sales of 27.8 million, the company becomes the world leading smartphone manufacturer. Just think of that! Even Apple is left behind.
How did Samsung manage to have such a success in the mobile phone division? Well, this has surely something to do with the great performance of the company’s Galaxy S II. This has brought Samsung a revenue of $13.5 billion. Last year, Samsung had a revenue 39% lower than now. The previous quarter of this year hasn’t been that succesful either (since the Q3 results are 23% higher than in Q2).
It seems that this success won’t stop here since the company expects to get even more of this in the fourth quarter. That’s because there’s a great demand for Samsung’s high-end products in developing markets and smartphones in emerging markets.
The devices said to bring the same success in the next quarter of this year include: Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note and Omnia W. All in all, Samsung is now enjoying the statute of the world leading smartphone manufacturer.
