Samsung Double-Time And Captivate Glide Hands-On

Samsung fans and especially messaging addicts are probably anxious about getting their hands on Samsung’s two new devices: Samsung Captivate Glide and Double-Time. Well, there have been some lucky people who already got their hands on the devices and shared some interesting information with us. The Engadget team managed to test the two devices and see how these work. Therefore, keep on reading if you intend to get one of the two Samsung handsets.

Captivate Glide Open

The first thing that you’ll notice and the only common feature of the Samsung Captivate Glide and Double-Time is the physical keyboard. Both Android handsets are heading to AT&T and will soon be available for purchase in case you’re interested.

Samsung Captivate Glide comes with features that will surely catch your attention. Thus, the phone packs a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, two cameras (an 8MP digital camera with powerful flash and a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls), 8GB of internal storage as well as a full gig of RAM.

Besides these features, Samsung Captivate Glide also bring a large 4-inch Super AMOLED display and has access to 4G speeds. The device runs Android 2.3 being capable of 1080p HD video recording.

Captivate Glide is light thanks to its plastic construction. Even if plastic materials have been used in the case of this device, the handset doesn’t look nor feels like a cheap phone and that’s so thanks to the textured battery plate as well as to satisfyingly firm sliding mechanism. The phone seems to be just perfect for those who are into messaging a lot. The keys are well spaced.

Now let’s get to Samsung Double-Time which is a less high-end phone. The phone will probably come at an affordable price if we’re to take into account its specs. Thus, the device brings a pair of 3.2-inch HVGA screens and a single-core 600MHz processor. It might be perfect for texting and placing calls but you might find it slow when navigating Froyo.

Since it’s a handset based on messaging, the phone brings Android 2.2. Yes, disappointing. We know that. The Engadget team reports that the keyboard felt a bit cramped and the phone had a cheap and plasticky feel. If you intend to load the handset with lots of media, we’re sorry to tell you that you won’t be able to do that since there’s almost no internal storage. There’s only a 2GB microSD card coming with the device.

There’s no information related to the price you’ll have to pay for these devices. The date when these will be available is unknown as well. Till then, check the gallery below to see more of the two handsets coming from Samsung.
