Mr. Roger Davidson is a relatively popular musician. He specializes playing the piano but apart from that, the music he creates is pretty well varied. Roger Davidson’s music ranges from symphonic and choral works over to jazz, children’s music and even Klezmer music.
So far, this doesn’t seem very relevant to the whole finestdaily.com mantra but bear with me.
After years of work and so, most of the music he created got stored onto his computer. Sometime in August 2004 his computer got a virus.
The musician’s natural reaction was to take the device to a local shop. Fearing the loss of years of work he handed it over to the professionals at Datalink Computer Products.
Well it turns out that the help he got from Datalink Computer Products was professional in more than one way. Mr. Roger Davidson was told that the virus is a major problem.
Not only would it affect his computer, but it represents the fact that the musician is targeted by some sort of criminal organisation.
The alleged criminal organisation the computer technicians spoke about was truly ridiculous, involving Honduras, polish priests and Opus Dei.
Add to that a plot to overthrow the Government and you have a jackpot.
Further more, the shop technicians told Davidson that he should pay for protection. The protection was for the computer viruses as well as for his own life.
What’s seriously interesting is that Davidson actually believed and so the scam started. No idea how much he paid over time but we do know that starting 2004 and up until today the sum went into millions.
By some accounts Davidson actually spent anywhere between 6 and 20 million dollars on this scam fantasy attack.
Today things changed, the people who told Davidson this were finally caught by the Police. The charges against the scammers are limited to first-degree grand larceny but that should be enough to make for some serious jail time.
The accused parties of this scam are Datalink Computer Products, Vickram Bedi and Helga Invarsdottir. The latter is a mere employee at Datalink Computer Products but has his own part in this monumental scam.
