Recent reports made public by DigiTimes suggest that the new generation of iPads will be available for purchase in a couple of months (March or April to be precise). Several sources indicate that the parts for the iPad 3 are starting to get shape and also it seems that iPad 2 manufacture is beginning to decline, developers making place for the new generation and offering more attention to the new project rather than the old one.
In the reports it is stated that the production of iPad 2 is expected to decline to around 5 million devices in the first months on 2012, down from 15 million units (the approximate number per quarter in the present). This is just one of the facts that point towards a new generation of iPad being scheduled for a 2012 release date.

Mass production of the next generation of iPad is thought to have a starting point in February of 2012, reaching around 10 million devices being manufactured in the first quarter alone.
This possible release date does not come as a surprise for Apple costumers, since the first iPad devices created by Apple were available in April 2010 and the second generation had a similar release date in 2011. Therefore, iPad 3 release date being in the first quarter of 2012 should only be expected.
Specs are not yet official, but information so far indicates that the next generation of iPad is expected to contain an A6 Quad Core processor, a new feature named ‘Retina display’ witch provides great resolution and it is said to be a little thicker compared with the current versions.
