It seems that Samsung has a bag full of novelties at the end of this year. After they revealed the new Galaxy Player, a new device is on the edge of being launched: the 23-mm thick Blue-ray player.
The new Blue-ray player will be presented next week at CES 2011, as the word on the street goes. This is the only thing we know for sure so far, as the details about this new piece of hardware are very scarce. Well, it is 23-mm thick, but Samsung did not provide anything than general data about their Blue-ray player, not even pricing information. Here are the features Samsung confirmed:
- metal casing with wall mount brackets
- 3D playback
- 2D to 3D conversion capabilities (well, a quasi-3D image, so don’t get too excited)
- Internet connection with support for YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the like. The content from these sites can be displayed on a TV screen.

With this Blue-ray player Samsung keeps the tradition of demonstrating their advance and innovations on a continuously growing market. Two years ago they released a 39-mm thick blue-ray player, and one year later, at CES 2010, they showed off a slimmer one, only 29-mm thick. And now this one, the world’s thinnest blue-ray player, only 23-mm thick. I wonder what’s next? playing-card-like blue-ray player?
