Microsoft Says IE Bug is Dangerous

Filled in the “here’s something you don’t see every day” section, we have an announcement from Microsoft in relation to a IE bug. That’s right folks, Internet Explorer has a major bug.

Worse still, the IE bug affects all versions of the Microsoft made browser and so far no fix is ready. According to Microsoft the warning we have here is supposed to let you know of a potential problem.

The potential problem is related to the IE bug which at the moment can only be worked around but not eliminated. As we await for development from Microsoft on their IE bug fix we can take a closer look at what exactly it is.

The new IE bug enables certain booby-trapped webpages to take full control over the computer (if unprotected) that’s running the browser. That’s quite a major problem no matter which way you look at it.

The inner workings of this bug are related to the way Internet Explorer manages the memory installed in your computer. If a maliciously oriented website would gain access to that part of your computer your PC could easily be hijacked.

So what would a hijacked PC do? Well, put simply, it would do the dirty work for others. The IE bug’s workaround that Microsoft managed to put together in a very short amount of time does not protect all users from the IE bug.

The workaround for this particular IE bug improves memory management of the browser itself but it cannot work properly when other components of Windows refuse to operate properly.

Until the fix for this particular problem is found Microsoft advises users to either refrain from using the Internet Explorer browser or to use something called the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit.

Unlike Skype, Microsoft forgot to apologize for this sort of problem…

I for one would throw it to the bin but if you are a fan of Microsoft’s browser than these two options are your only hope against the IE bug that might help until a permanent fix is available.
