By Microsoft has signed a non-disclosure agreement with Yahoo, along with other equity firms in order to take a closer look at the activities of the struggling company. This move comes as everyone is trying to strike a deal with Yahoo, which has taken some wrong decisions lately and needs some help.
Since it got rid of its Chief Executive in September, Yahoo has been trying to completely change its business so that it could overcome revenue issues. The objective of these equity firms is to acquire minority stakes in Yahoo so that in time, after following steps of a well made strategy, it would be possible to take over the whole company.
Financial advisers Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Allen & Co. are helping Yahoo’s board to provide relevant financial details to firms such as Silver Lake, KKR, TPG Capital and other potential buyers, according to the Wall Street Journal. These financial details allow the firms mentioned above to analyze the value of Yahoo’s assets.
In the year 2008, Microsoft wanted to buy Yahoo, but the $47.5 billion offer was not accepted. Even though this did not work, the two companies still decided to work together in a 10-year search deal. This came with a 12 percent cut of advertising revenue in Microsoft’s favor. If everything would go well this time, thousands of jobs could be saved by merging Yahoo Inc. with the MSN portal.
