The Japanese at Sony Electronics have had the VAIO S on sale for quite some time now and they’ve just decided to start selling it in the United States.
With coming to the U.S. market, Sony upgraded the VAIO S a little bit, particularly in the battery department.
The 13.3 inch laptop did take its time in coming stateside but happily that means that Sony did “deliver” with its launch.
Even though the screen isn’t very big, the resolution is capable of a resolution of 1366 x 768 and it can really deliver quite some imagery on that hardware.
Helped along by a range of Sandy Bridge Core i5 and i7 processors, AMD Radeon HD 6630 graphics with 1GB of VRAM and an SSD Drive, this portable machine is no office only gadget.
Speaking of portability, the Sony VAIO S weighs in at 3.9 lb and is just one inch thick.
Not only is it light and easy to hide it’s got an LED backlit keyboard and a solid construction so you don’t need to worry about dropping it.
That special trick of battery tech that Sony’s Vaio S announced for the US fits into the design of this laptop and the special extender can take the autonomy up to 15 hours of battery life.
Now while I’m not a fan of Sony and i think their VAIO range is a bit too much of a brand oriented overpriced situation I will admit to the S being quite the impressive laptop.
And once you get down to the price list, the Sony VAIO S isn’t actually that expensive. I mean it’s no budged solution but one could clearly consider buying one without wasting money.
That’s because the U.S. version of the Sony VAIO S has a starting price set at $945 with an extra $150 for the extended battery pack.
