Hasselblad launches H4D-40 medium format camera
News | IULY | February 4, 2010 at 6:58 amEstablished in 1841 in Sweden, as a trading company, Hasselblad has become through Arvid Viktor Hasselblad the elite of professional photographic equipment. Today, the world leading manufacturer has publicized the official launch of the Hasselblad H4D-40, the newest model in the H4D series.
Having the victorious H3D-II as a model, Hasselblad has improved capture rates and ISO, expanded exposure times and included the new True Focus feature offering professional photographers the extraordinary and appreciated features of a Medium Format DSLR over smaller cameras. Chief Executive Officer L. Hansen pointed out the dramatic developments that have taken place for the 35mm format in the last years. He also mentioned that Hasselblad cameras are well-known for having large sensors with many millions of pixels, but that very few know about the image quality details like color, clarity or depth of field.
The new camera includes features like low noise color filtering, digital lens correction that corrects distortions and color aberrations. The new H4D-40 wants to be an easy to use accessible camera offering the same renowned Hasselblad image quality. With a 33×44mm CCD sensor and 40 megapixels, the camera offers almost double the area of the largest 35mm DSLR sensor.
True Focus technology is a much more accurate focus type compared to multi-point focus most DSLRs have, permitting the camera recalculate and compensate errors created when the photographer recomposes the image. This is only achievable thanks to the APL (Absolute Position Lock) processor that is fast enough to eliminate any shutter lag.
The Hasselblad H4D-40 is being released to the public worldwide starting February, 10th and can be acquired for the price of $20,000, including camera body, and 80mm lens. A must have for photography professionals!
