When it comes to purchasing a smartphone, Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus would probably be one of the first choices that come to mind. Another thought in people’s minds would be to buy a smartphone with Google Wallet capabilities. It may turn out to be quite a struggle to decide whether to acquire a Galaxy Nexus or not, given that Verizon blocked the Google Wallet access for this particular smartphone.
With Verizon blocking Google Wallet for Galaxy Nexus, the irony would be to own a smartphone made by Google and not being able to run a Google app. The reason behind this action taken by Verizon is primarily one related to the competition. As the Google Nexus 4G, the Galaxy Nexus has the needed NFC chip installed in order to be able to run Google Wallet app. With the blocking of Google’s app,ISIS competitor (also using NFC technology) should benefit greatly in this race against Google.ISIS has a long list of carriers and projects with other companies such as HTC, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG and RIM. The mobile carries include T-Mobile and AT&T, both of those blocking the use of Google Wallet on their models of the Galaxy Nexus.
One solution to this issue would be to download a cracked version of Google Wallet from the internet and install it on Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus. Verizon would have to change the current policy if we are to see Google Wallet in the Android Market. Seeing a brilliant idea shot down by the carries is somewhat disappointing for all the possible buyers and owners of Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
