By Today was the first day you could go to a shop and buy a new Kinect system for your Microsoft Xbox in the UK. And if you look at the recent headlines it’s been a great success.
Reports came in of people queuing up since yesterday. Other Brits got lucky as entire shops opened up at midnight just so they can get their hands on a new Kinect.
The U.S. launch of Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox came in just a week ago, on November the 4th. In the U.S. Kinect got live demos in New York’s Times Square and a massively budgeted media campaign.

On the other hand the U.K. gamers didn’t get so much attention yet they seemed to crave the Kinect even more. Why is this?
Well put simply, because it’s that good. Microsoft’s Kinect for Xbox is an accessory for your console that helps you do away with controllers.
Kinect uses a camera, motion sensors and a microphone to identify you. Once that takes place, your input will be moving and talking. No cables, no joysticks and no buttons.
At this point, a few geeky readers will say that Microsoft is late to the game with the Kinect for Xbox. This is true enough, Nintendo has had the Wii out for quite some time. Sony has come up with the Playstation 3 Move and raised the bar.
But now Microsoft pretty much put a lid on things. Comparing graphics you’ll find the Xbox way ahead of the Wii and just slightly lacking by PS3 standards. But when it comes to the whole point, the device elimination part Kinect is king. Wii uses at least one controller at all times, PS3 Move does the same but Kinect has your hands free.
