Here’s something you hardly ever see, a publisher and developer of the gaming world have come together to agree on an earlier release date than previously announced.
Star Wars: The Old Republic will now be released on the 20th of December. It sounds like exactly the same date but it’s not as up until today, SWTOR was scheduled to be released on the 20th of December in the U.S. and the 22nd in Europe.
With the new release date of the Star Wars inspired MMORPG we get a simultaneous worldwide release and we also get a shorter wait period of two days in Europe.
It’s not much, but when compared to Blizzard schedules, the forward moved release date is impressive. Despite the good news, not everybody is thrilled with this particular release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Some gamers and reviewers consider that a release date so close to Christmas could pose some problems for them. The game is likely to sell and without any serious MMORPG competition announced round at the same time, it’s likely to sell well.
So what’s the problem gamers have with this “new” release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic? Apparently they’re concerned they won’t have sufficient time to play it as it won’t turn up with plenty of time before Christmas and the whole season rush.
It’s a fair point but I’m afraid it isn’t going to be enough to give Star Wars fans their treat game earlier than December the 20th.
