Not that long ago we’ve talked about the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 patch and considering whether or not it’s worth it and it seems like that wasn’t the most important issue to focus on.
Though delayed in the United States, the new Gran Turismo 5 DLC went live in just about every other part of the world by now. The delay will include a bonus on behalf of Gran Turismo 5 to affected users and that’s not even the start of the problem.
Oh no, the real problem is to be seen in how the DLC pack is tied do a single PSN account. This is of major disadvantage to those who have plenty of accounts in their home but it raises an even bigger issue altogether.
Due to regional locking on a different basis between the PlayStation 3 console, Gran Turismo 5 game and DLC purchasing place and usage there are now reports of thousands of users who’ve purchased the game as well as the DLC legally and can’t use it.
On top of that there’s plenty of people who have a PSN account for purchasing stuff from the market place and another to play their games and so on. People affected by this mishap are less numerous but still a major part of Gran Turismo 5 and its DLC market.
The bottom line is that if you haven’t yet purchased the Gran Turismo 5 DLC and are planning to beware of how you’re going to do it.
Make sure that when purchasing the Gran Turismo 5 DLC you’ll use the same PSN account on which you play your game and if you are you’re still going to need to be careful.
But most of all beware of purchasing the Gran Turismo 5 DLC if you’ve had a PSN account tied to a different location from the one you’re at right now.
It seems like a bit of a sham on behalf of Polyphony Digital or SCEA and at the moment users like us have nothing to do but beware of all the issues that may come with purchasing a DLC we all feel entitled to.
