According to recent reports, the well-known online retailer, GameStop, will expand its business by selling iOS-based devices. The company made this announcement at a trade show in Las Vegas and among the devices GameStop will sell are iPod, iPhone and iPad.
This process of expanding the company’s business began earlier this year when GameStop started to offer a trade-in program on the iPod, iPad and iPhone. At first this program was offered only in a limited number of the company’s stores but as the president of GameStop, Tony Bartel, stated the company’s intention was to make this trade-in program available in a great number of stores and that’s what it actually did.
This move seems to be the right one taking into account the fact that mobile gaming increases its importance with every day going by. Since a great number of gamers have started to use tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices, GameStop has become aware of how important these mobile devices are.
Therefore, the company took this decision and also claimed that GameStop might enter the tablet market as well. Tony Bartel has said earlier this year that the company is seriously taking into consideration the creation of its own tablet that would provide users with “a great gaming experience” and that would come up with a Bluetooth controller.
Thus, GameStop will start creating a tablet of its own and will work with manufacturers and OEMs to develop it as long as the company doesn’t find a tablet that would be great for gaming.
