It’s been rumored since February that Dell was planning on unveiling a new tablet to top their Streak models which, it seems, weren’t as popular as what the competition was touting. Well, now it’s pretty much a guarantee that we’ll see the Peju officially launched by this year’s end, maybe just in time for the holiday’s shopping sprees.

The Peju was rumored to have quite the hardware and software behind it. It’s been said that it will run the touch-friendly Windows 8, have an Intel Core I5 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 64/126GB SSD Drive, 2x USB ports, mini VGA port, microSD card slot, HDMI port, 2 cameras (5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera for video chatting), WiFi, bluetooth and a 3G or even 4G modem. The screen would be a 1920×1080 rez, 10 inch Gorilla Glass Display, and the battery reportedly lasts between six and eight hours. All this hardware comes at a price though, so the Peju will weigh 1.9 pounds, which is pretty hefty for tablets, by today’s standards.
These rumors are now getting stronger as Dell Peju Insider has leaked official internal documentation for the tablet, which is said to be scheduled for launch this October. The images show the device from multiple angles, and also show the docking station and its connectivity options. Also, it seems the device will be running Windows 7 out of the box, but is Windows 8 compatible.
Whether or not the Peju will be a success is too early to tell, but it’s clear that Dell is trying to impress the “higher” end of the market with this device. While other tablets run Android, this will run Windows 7. Business-oriented users will appreciate the connectivity, versatility and raw power the tablet has, while people who want a simpler, cheaper, and mobile device that weighs less will probably look elsewhere.
