We all know about the Segway, it’s the sort of creation that makes geeks rejoice and everybody else almost neutral to it.
The Segway also had a few other problems, for example a number of countries had legislation came in contradiction with using it.
Germany isn’t one of the places were the two wheeled creation has been banned. Germans have been having fun with the Segway for quite some time now but they noticed something it didn’t have.
Needless to say, the Germans never considered the Segway is far to geeky to be seen riding in public but the fact that the gyroscope balanced creation has trouble with speed.
Now remember, this is the country where they have Autobahns. These people don’t mess about with high speed and using top gear.
So who’s willing to guess what some German kid did to his Segway in order to cope with that aspect?
(I’d like to say I’m using the term “kid” loosely and mean no harm, but you have to admit, the chap in the video doesn’t really look like he’s got a doctorate in something, does he?)
He fitted bigger wheels and played with the configuration a bit and he got the Segway to achieve a top speed of 25 mph. It’s not enough to get you a speeding ticket but it’s light speed comparing to the Segway’s regular travelling velocity.
Being the speed freak that I am, also being the geek that I am I look at this and still find it remarkably geeky of a mode of transport.
