E-One is a sophisticated small robot created by EOS Innovation. The robot created by the French company is still in an experimental state, but the prospects given are quite impressive.
E-One is intended for patrols, alerting the owner when something suspicious happens within its patrol range. Certain modifications might be conducted in order to give the robot even more properties, like aiding the elderly or even handicapped persons. E-One could also serve the telepresence purpose since its face can display videos.
Compared to other existing robots, E-One is relatively small (two feet) and it also has a small weight (around 10 kilograms), with a battery life of around four-five hours. This experimental robot has two cameras with high-resolution capabilities, one of which contains fish-eye lens, a mobile projector, two speakers, two Omni directional microphones and USB and Wi-Fi properties. In order to detect obstacles, the robot is embedded with several ultrasonic and infrared sensors.

The progress in robotics reached new frontiers in recent development, but a weakness still remains: the battery life. Batteries so far only last hours, the consumption being too high for a conventional battery to handle. More developing can also benefit the visual and speech recognition of such a robot. The current technology can only develop simple robots that are better optimized in doing specific tasks and nothing too delicate or complicated.
The French company also developed a surveillance robot that is quite similar in some aspects as the weight and size. This semi-autonomous surveillance device is to perform patrol missions without being detected (thanks to its low profile design). The E-Vigilant will be commercialized next year.
