Asus’s Padfone With Nvidia’s Quad-Core Tegra 3 Early 2012

Ever since November 2011, news regarding Asus’s Padfone were presented on GLBenchmarks. In the early steps of the project, the Padfone was depicted as having Qualcomn MSM8960 processor. As it turns out, the design was recently changed, making the Asus’s Padfone a ‘proud owner’ of Nvidia’s Tegra 3 chipset which contains five cores (one helper core and four Cortex-A9 cores), which in theory should be the most powerful processor ever used to run a smartphone.

The Netbooknews.com two-hour recording that announced the new features of the smartphone also stated that Asus Padfone should be presented in more detail at MWC 2012, which will take place in February 2012. A briefly preview can also be presented at CES 2012 in early January 2012.

Given that Asus’s Transformer tablet and the Transformer Prime Android outplayed all the competition in 2011, it remains to be seen if the Padfone will have the same success.

Being in early development, more and bigger changes may appear on the Padfone’s way to the market. With news about this project being quite limited for now, all that can be done is to wait for CES/MWC 2012 in order to obtain more information regarding this smartphone’s capabilities, properties, line of distribution and price.

Asus’s Padfone may turn out to be a very good choice for smartphone fans, but patience is required in order to make this project a reality.
