Unlocking your Nokia cell phone isn’t difficult at all if you follow the right steps without skipping any of them. We all know how annoying locked cell phones are, so here’s an article about how to unlock your Nokia mobile phone.
People buy phones that have been previously locked by the company that sold the devices to them. This is because that specific company wants you to use the handset only on their network. Obviously!
Therefore, whenever you try to insert a different SIM card, you won’t succeed in using it. Having an unlocked phone means having the possibility to use it on several networks. There are all kind of services that will help you unlock your Nokia mobile phone but you’ll have to pay for it. So, why not unlocking your Nokia without paying any money?

1. The best way to unlock your Nokia for free is to contact your service provider and ask them to give you an unlock code. They should give it to you for free if you’ve been one of their customers for a long time.
2. If you don’t succeed in getting the unlock code from your service provider, then you can opt for one of those softwares that do that. Some of these softwares can be downloaded for free while in the case of others, you will have to pay.
3. Find out your IMEI number, that is the serial number of your Nokia cellphone. You can get this number by looking underneath the phone’s battery or by dialing *#06#. The number should be include from 10 to 14 digits.
4. If you’ve downloaded a software to unlock your Nokia, you should now take the SIM card out, put the battery back in and then turn on the phone.
5. You should see a message telling you to insert the SIM card. What you’ll have to do now is to enter the code you have. Your phone should be unlocked after entering this code but if you have problems, you should try to use the code “7″ (Multilock).
6. If the code works, you should see a message saying that the restriction is off or that SIM is not restricted. If you enter several codes and you still cannot unlock your Nokia, then it means the phone is hard-locked and you cannot unlock it by code.
If your phone is an E51, then it is very simple to unlock. All you have to do is to use the Nokia PC suite and update your phone’s firmware. The method mentioned above works only in the case of the GSM phones.
If you have a CDMA/TDMA phone, then the steps above won’t work. Unlocking a phone like this requires the Master Subsidary Lock that you can only get from your service provider. There are little chances for you to actually get this code since this is usually against the policy of many service providers.
You must know that unlocking your Nokia might void your warranty. Nokia has a limit of 5 unlock tries. If you don’t succeed in unlocking it after entering 5 codes, the phone will become hard-locked. In this case, special equipment is needed to unlock your Nokia cellphone. Many newer Nokia phones will not get unlocked with the codes generated by the free unlock programs.
