How To Install Android Market On Your Kindle Fire

Kindle Fire comes with some great features and at an affordable price (just $199). If you’ve already purchased the tablet, then you’re familiar with the fact that you cannot download applications from Android Market. I’m sure many of you aren’t too happy about that. So, there’s a way for you to enjoy other apps as well like the ones from Google Android Market. All you have to do is to root your Amazon Kindle Fire and then install Android Market.

So, if you have rooted your Kindle Fire, then here are the steps you have to follow and thus transform your Kindle Fire into an Android tablet.

1. Begin by downloading GoogleServicesFramework.apk in order for your tablet to have access to Google Services. If you want to make things easier, you can opt for donwloading the whole Google Apps.apk  package. Use WinRAR or any other free archive tool you prefer to extract the GoogleServicesFramework.apk file that you’ll find in the GApps.rar archive.

2. Now download version 3.3.11 of the Vending.apk file which is practically the Android Market app.

3. Get the File Expert from Amazon AppStore for Android to be able to change app read write permissions on a device that has been rooted.

4. After connecting the device to your computer by using a Micro-USB cable, you can transfer the .apk file you’ve downloaded to your tablet.

5. Now install File Expert and when the installation process has completed, open the app and then tap the Menu. Go to Settings and provide it with superuser permission.

6.  The next thing to do is to enable “Root Explorer” from Settings. This will allow you to modify app read-write permissions. This way, you will be able to download and install apps from the Android Market.

7. Open File Expert again and hit “Install” after you’ve selected the GoogleserviceFramework.apk file. When the installation has finished, open the file menu by holding and pressing the Vending.apk file.

8. Once you get to the menu, make sure you select the “Cut” option.  After that go to the App folder that you’ll find in the System folder.

9. Now tap the “Menu” key and then open the “Mount” menu. You will then have to mount the App folder as “Read-Write”. After you do this, you will have to hit the “Menu” key once again and then copy the Vending.apk file by pressing “Paste”.

10. The Vending.apk file should now be in the App folder. In order to get to the file-options menu, you will have to tap and hold the Vending.apk file. When you get there, make sure to hit the “Permissions” option. You will now have to change the permissions so that they match the other apps this folder contains. The permissions should be the following:

Owner – Read/Write,

Group – Read,

Others – Read.

11. When you’re done with this, you will have to install Vending.apk by tapping it.

12. It’s now time to reboot your Kindle Fire. A custom launcher ( like GO Launcher EX)  is needed because you won’t see Android Market in the Kindle carousel launcher. So, make sure you install one.

13.  You can now enjoy Android Market on your Amazon Kindle Fire. Just open the Android Market app and use your Google account to login.

Since Kindle Fire hasn’t been created to access apps from the Android Market, you might have some difficulties in running certain apps. Some of them might not work at all and the download speeds might be slow.  A way to solve such issues is to reboot the tablet.
