The Saboteur …Paris needs your help.

After their huge success with games such as Dark Reign 2 and The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, the guys at Pandemic Studios amaze the gaming world again with The Saboteur, a game that promises to keep you tied to your PC\Xbox360\Playstation3 for days and days.
It is well known that WW2 games are nothing new under the sun. You may think the purpose of this game is to kill kill kill and nothing more, like most of it’s WW2 predecessors, but this is where you may want to think again. Combining the freedom of moving around of GTA 4 and the climbing expertise of Assassins Creed 2 and not to forget the Combat abilities of Red Faction: Guerrilla, this game is much more than just a Third Person Shooter.

Story

You find yourself in the skin of Sean Devlin , an Irish race car driver who enters the fight against the Nazi occupying Paris, for personal reasons. He joins the resistance after a good friend of his gets killed by a Nazi, and his main purpose becomes a quest of vengeance against the Aryans .Devlin’s character is based upon a real life war hero named William Grover, but the similarities between the two are few, the game being made to be fun not accurate. The Irish in the hero is pushed to the cliché state by his drinking, smoking and usage of curse words .Although not the best role model, you will come to find him a great character to play after a few missions through Nazi infested Paris.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very similar to the GTA series. You walk, ride a car through the city and do missions to make Paris a safer place. While exploring the city you will see that certain parts of the capital are grey ,and can only be colored (inspired) again by reducing the Nazi infestation in that district. Sean will have to climb buildings, be stealthy and destroy the enemy camps, but he will not do it alone. The French citizens and the resistance will be there to help him succeed .On road to setting free Paris from the German “scum” he will get special “perks”. These perks are upgrades to damage, accuracy, ammo count and are gained through actions such as sniping targets, evading high alarm levels, etc. All in all Sean Devlin is a very versatile hero that can punch\kick the hell out of his enemies , use weapons such as guns and rifles and sneak behind his prey ,kill him and take his uniform to become one of the SS.
Environment

The graphics are superb and the level of detail is really great. Only after you climb the Eifel tower can you see the beauty that the city of love has to offer. The lip to speech coordination is one of the best so far in the industry, and the voices are very well attributed to their characters. Also the sounds create a very realistic war atmosphere. If your system can load the game at it’s maximum graphic potential you will not be disappointed, and if not maybe it’s time for a system upgrade.

Some may say The Saboteur resembles GTA and Assassins creed too much, and that the era of war games is over. But the truth is, that only after you started playing the game, can you understand how addictive it is and how all those elements come together to keep you tied to your seat, exploring Paris, killing Nazis and having fun.
