Forza 4 pushed off track by GT5

It’s been more than a week since the first contact we had with Forza 4 and the game has really grown on me as well as most of the online gaming community.

As there are plenty of reviews and arguments on Forza 4, its relation to Gran Turismo 5 out there, I’ve decided I know best and going to set them straight.

Naturally, this is a joke and my knowledge of Forza 4 is limited, but only because it takes several hundreds of hours of playtime to properly get round to knowing everything in it.

Despite this, I reckon I know enough about Forza 4 and GT5 to get a decent comparison out of them.

Unsurprisingly, as Forza 4 and GT5 offer pretty much the same cars, the same tracks and roughly the same graphics and details, there’s not that much of a difference in them.

I will concede that Forza 4 technically is better off in terms of graphics and though hardly noticeable on anything but extreme conditions, it does run smoother with higher average fps levels.

That said, Gran Turismo 5 seems to do a little better with less. We know Forza 4 is more advanced and it shows in benchmarks and tests but somehow Gran Turismo 5 feels like it come pretty close with less.

The only thing i really feel Gran Turismo 5 doesn’t offer in terms of graphics and eye candy is something actually practical, the track aspect.

It looks better on Forza 4 and, as a result, it is easier to visually find the racing line when not using any aids and such.

On the simulation front the new boy stacks up but GranTurismo 5 seems better, not by much, but just enough. And there’s another point where Forza 4 seems to be lagging behind.

The AI controlled players seem to act like robots instead of humans. I know that’s what they are, but at certain conditions Forza 4 opponents seem to be unable to adapt to conditions properly.

It’s rather difficult to explain in words but the video below does more than well to showcase a difference between AI players from Forza 4 and those from GT5.

At this point I’d like to say that judging between Forza 4 and GT5 is like watching a classic duel in Formula 1, while the new boy is catching up and may be faster, the veteran will push him off the track if that’s what it takes to win.

Really, both games have their pluses and, let’s face it, a few minuses but both Forza 4 and GT5 have gotten to a point where they’re so good it’s just a matter of taste in console (if any) that seriously weighs the decision of which to buy.

For me, as you’ve probably guessed by now, It’s going to be Gran Turismo 5 and as much as I like it, i wish they wouldn’t make mistakes like the one they did with the DLC pack recently.

  1. Looking between the two, I think you are wrong about the graphics.

GT5 – Realism. Everything looks more realistic and like they are photos.

Forza4 – Flashier and crisper with brighter colors, but less realistic lighting and colors and “cartoony?” looking. This look of graphics would be better on other videogames but not in simulators imo.

  2. Well, that’s what I’m saying. Technically, Forza 4 is more advanced. As far as meets the eye however, I’d always prefer GT5 because of the slightly better feel of reality.
