Grand Theft Auto is one of the best known franchises in gaming nowadays. 10 years after the original version was released for computers and consoles available then, the mobile platforms get a very special 10 year anniversary edition of its third installment, giving you the chance to go once more on a city rampaging killing spree.

Recently ported to Android and iOS, Grand Theft Auto III is a great game, being part of a modern generation which require the latest high-end hardware that are available on such devices. Although the device specifications will highly limit the number of players that can actually install the game on their mobiles, the price, space requirements and age limit will narrow them down even more.

And even if there is a certain age imposed on the players, many teenagers and kids manage to get their hands on the game somehow and learn the very best things in life, such as stealing cars and using them to run over innocent people. But Grant Theft Auto III isn’t a game to teach you what’s right and what’s not. It is just simple fun, it is about doing things that you can’t even think about in real life, living without ever having to think about consequences and completing challenging quests throughout the game, which put your skills to the limit.

But what’s so special about this port that we didn’t have in the original version? Well, for one it is undoubtedly the touchscreen, for which the game has been optimized. But because that can be said about every port that can and will be made, let’s take a quick look at the other more or less innovative features which have been implemented to convince the public to buy their game. Besides improved textures, and other graphic enhancements (which apparently means computers 10 years ago were worst in quality than mobiles nowadays), everything else is basically the same – the same comical dialog, coming from the mouths of the same characters you probably feel nostalgic about, and which “play” their life in the same large open world.

For most of the genre’s fans, and also for touchscreen fans, Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will give you fresh look on an old game and a new style of playing it. For what’s worth an USB controller can be connected to your device, but if it was the case to play the game with a gamepad, you’d possibly want to choose a bigger screen, such as the one you have on your desktop computer. All in all, even if it’s 10 years into the future, Grand Theft Auto III still remains one of the most critically acclaimed blockbusters of all times.
