Games that fit into the Angry Birds‘ genre have been around us for ages, maybe for as long as Flash existed. However, most of them have gone unnoticed. But that is not the case for Angry Birds. Truth be told, touchscreen has been an element that greatly influenced the game’s popularity. And even if it just doesn’t feel right to play a physics-based demolition game with a mouse and a keyboard after you tried it on a smartphone, there are other features that helped the game stay one of the most popular apps for iOS and Android devices over the years.
Two years have passed since Angry Birds was first available on iTunes and Android Market, and over the time developers came up with new levels and “weapons” to keep the game fresh and make players want more content. The idea is pretty simple. You have several types of birds, which you have to throw at various structures in the hope that you kill the pigs. With ingeniously designed levels, each stage is calibrated well enough so that you have the right amount and type of birds for destroying the compatible type of structures, eventually leading to an easy success of killing your enemies with an appropriate degree of difficulty.
On the other hand, the story seems to be there just to humor gamers who would otherwise complain if there was none. After the pigs stole the eggs, the birds got angry and now they seek to take revenge on them. Thousands (or probably millions of birds) are now being sacrificed in Angry Birds, only so you can destroy the pigs’ fortress.
Based on a drag gesture to accurately set your speed and angle, you can calculate or appreciate where each bird is going to land and what it is going to hit. Even though most levels will put you through a trial and error process, overall the game does not present a high level of difficulty. Once you master all the weapons at your disposal you can be sure you will successfully complete any stage. However, the learning curve is quite sharp, but whenever you return to a level you have already beaten, you will be surprised with how much ease you can win it again.
Throughout the game, you will get several level packs, each containing up to 63 levels distributed on three levels of difficulty. Upon completing certain levels, you will be introduced to new birds that have unique and useful superpowers. Each levels will only give you a limited number of birds, with their type and number being preset.
Angry Birds might as well be one of those games that will never be forgotten in time. That is mainly because the developers keep bringing new content, for the same price, and even releasing sequels, which make even more content available. Drag, set your destination and release the angry birds with the soul purpose of taking revenge on the pigs. It is as fun as it is simple.
